| Drawing Out (odds/outs) |
| How many times have you seen another player draw out
or "suck out" on you. In Holdem a player's outs are the
unseen cards that will complete or improve your hand to make it the
winning hand. These hands are: flush, straight, full house, straight
flush. Sometines people will chase with a lowe pair to hit two pair
trips or a set. There are times where no matter what a player draws
he can't win the hand. That is know as "drawing dead". "Outs"
are the cards that may improve your hand to the winning one. When
looking at outs always be sure your outs are live. There are times
where a potential out can make someone else a better hand.
Easy Way to Calculate
Outs (Shot Gunning)
Without getting into a lot of math there is an easy and simple
way to calculate your outs. This is a ballpark figure that shows
you the chances to improve on the flop and turn. After 15 outs the
estimate is off target by a lot, but at 15 outs you are the favorite
to win anyways so always bet and raise!
With two cards to come after the flop you multiply your number
of outs by four for your percent chance to hit your draw. With one
card to come after the turn, you multiply your number of outs by
two for your percent chance to hit your draw. I have included the
shotgunning calculations next to the real math so you can see just
how close they really are.
% = percentage to hit
x:1 = odds to one to hit
SG% = the shotgunning percentage so you can compare.
